Opinions wanted!

Hey there! I’ve been struggling with how to organize my Other People Who Are Interesting And/Or Notable But Not Presidents, Vice Presidents, or First Ladies (working title) page and could use your help.

Interested?

  • Read the rest of this post for more info

  • Take a peek at my new page

  • Click around

  • Be sure to try out the menu toward the top of the page

  • Know that it’s far from perfect — I’m still trying to figure out if this will work or if it’s worth it

  • Let me know what you think by filling out the form at the bottom of this page

  • Too much work? Feel free to just throw a 👍or 👎in the comments below

  • NOTE: This isn’t anonymous, but don’t worry about hurting my feelings. I’m not an overly sensitive politician.

What’s in it for you

  • That warm fuzzy feeling you get from being helpful

  • A chance to voice your opinion

  • A chance to win a presidential thing. I haven’t decided yet. But anyone who fills out the form below is eligible. No purchase necessary, I’ll pick one person at random, yada yada.

A little background

  • I already have pages set up for presidents, vice presidents, and first ladies (which will include all wives and anyone who served in the role)

  • None of this is finished yet

  • My goal is to share some quick info for each, then link to all related blog posts

  • I’ve been working on this idea for a while but have struggled with the best way to organize it:

    • Should it be chronological?

    • Grouped into categories (Founding Fathers, women, American, etc., etc.)?

    • Alphabetical order? By first or last name? (Because last names can change!)

    • If not for Pamela Churchill, I may have figured this out … but she’s both British and also American. Pamela Churchill and also Pamela Harriman. She messed everything up! DAMN IT, PAMELA!

My solution

I think I’ve discovered a way to organize everyone in a more fluid way:

  • This will allow each individual to appear in more than one category (1700s AND 1800s; American AND not)

  • I can also tag everyone for additional sorting (political party, royalty, whether they had a cabinet position, by various wars, etc.)

  • I’ll be able to share as much as I want about each individual in one place, then link out to any related blog posts

  • This also gives flexibility to create different collections of varying specificity (female people of color, notable non-Americans from the 1700s, Whigs who ran for president, etc.)

I welcome any insight and am grateful for your help. You are the best.

thanks, friend

Tell me what you think!

I’ve read at least one book about every U.S. president, never tire of shoehorning presidential trivia into conversations, and am basically an expert at hiding mistakes in my sketchbooks.
